Creative Business Forum Takes Place on SPIEF 2022 Opening Day

The Creative Business Forum, organized by the social platform of the Roscongress Foundation – the Innosocium Foundation, took place on 15 June, the opening day of SPIEF 2022. The main goal of the Forum was to provide systematic support to the creative industries aimed at unlocking their potential for economic, Arctic, and social development. The Forum programme included a multi-vector theme with a focus on the creative industries, interaction with non-profit organizations, and the social track. More than 20 sessions were held, with 130 speakers and experts that included art managers, designers, publishers, film producers, and government and business representatives all taking the floor. More than 300 SPIEF 2022 participants attended discussions and debates dedicated to the development of the creative industries in Russia. Broadcasts of the Forum sessions were viewed more than one million times.

This year’s Creative Business Forum programme was divided into two main blocks: ‘Transformation in the World and Growth in the Creative Economy’ and ‘The Creative Industries of the North’.

Sessions in the first block focused on the potential of the creative industries for economic development and highlighted promising opportunities resulting from the withdrawal of international companies from the market and the imposition of economic sanctions on Russia. In the second block, for the first time on the sidelines of SPIEF, the Russian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023 hosted events dedicated to the common interests shared by the creative industries and the Arctic theme of ‘The Creative Industries of the North’.

“The Creative Business Forum has established itself as one of the year’s most significant creative economy events. The creation of national brands, the outlook for online platforms and NFT, the future of the film industry in this new environment, investment in the arts and training for the creative economy – all of these pertinent topics were discussed by talented professionals, entrepreneurs, and members of the expert community who are now faced with the challenge of developing the creative industries,” Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov.

“The task of the Forum in this new environment is to develop measures that will make the creative industries more effective by enhancing cooperation between the state, entrepreneurs, and the creative class to create an ecosystem of cross-disciplinary projects and national brands.  We are focussed on cutting-edge science, the use of modern technology, and the national cultural code. Special attention should now go to assessing the potential of the creative industries in the development of the northern territories and to orienting the creative communities towards expanding the underlying format of social initiatives,” Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Innosocium Foundation Elena Marinina said.
