The Innosocium Russian Social Projects Contest for Students together with the Council for the Development of Social Innovations of the Regions of the Russian Federation under the Federation Council of the Russian Federation has announced an additional nomination titled ‘Taking Care of Seniors’.

The nomination aims to support elderly citizens and implement projects to preserve and improve their quality of life in emergency situations.

“Given the new challenges we face, older people need special support. By actively participating in the volunteer movement, young people are helping senior citizens and surrounding them with attention and care. The nomination, which was established with the support of the Federation Council, is designed to support young people in their quest to implement socially oriented projects that aim to preserve the health and life of senior citizens and integrate them into society in the modern conditions”, said Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council.

Innosocium is a contest that aims to attract the attention of young people to solve urgent socially significant problems in all regions of the country. Projects that are beneficial for society will receive real financial support: the prize fund in each nomination is RUB 500,000. Implementing projects will help the curator partners in each category. In addition, the winners will be invited to participate in economic forums (SPIEF, EEF, Russian Investment Forum) operated by the Roscongress Foundation as well as the Fourth Forum of Social Innovations.

Projects in four categories will compete for victory in 2020: ‘Taking Care of Seniors’ (partner – Council for the Development of Social Innovations of the Regions of the Russian Federation under the Federation Council of the Russian Federation), ‘Women's Leadership’ (partner – MARS), ‘Culture: Regional Initiatives’ (partner – cultural platform ART-OKNO, “Art, Science, and Sport” Charitable Foundation), and ‘Territory Development’ (category partner – EVRAZ). Students across the country can apply for the competition by 30 April.

“We must not stand on the sidelines, especially now, when everyone’s participation is worthwhile. Together with our colleagues from the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, we have decided on the need to introduce an additional nomination that will meet the challenges of the time. Support for the older generation is now more relevant than ever. We are offering students an additional opportunity to change this world for the better and prove themselves”, said Yelena Marinina, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Innosocium Foundation.
