Interaction Between Various Cultures in Creative Industries Discussed during Creative Business Forum at the EEF

On 10 September, the Creative Business Forum, organized by the Social Platform of the Roscongress Foundation at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum hosted the session entitled ‘A Creative Nation: Regional Initiatives and International Partnerships in a Creative Economy’. Its participants discussed the impact of creative industries on the investment attractiveness of a country and its regions, the role of culture in Russia's cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries, the integration of the concept of traditional values into the entertainment industry, the necessary conditions for a creative breakthrough and the prospects for cooperation between countries in the creative economy. The EEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

"There is no doubt that the Russian creative economy has a huge potential. Together we can create conditions for its growth. We are talking about financial support from big business and the state, the creation of art clusters, an expert hub, scaling successful projects, sharing experience and education, which, as we have seen, is one of the most important vectors for the development of creative industries," said Yuliya Golubeva, Deputy General Director, Gazprom-Media Holding.

"The uniqueness of creative industries in the regions, first of all, lies in a powerful cultural code. A big role in this is played by the creation of specialized clusters, when local entrepreneurs work on this basis, and local media holdings promote these products. The issue of scaling is solved with the help of such successful projects as the "Soul of Russia. The North" festival," emphasized Elena Shumakova, Deputy Governor of Khanty‑Mansi Autonomous Area–Yugra.

"There is a great love for Russian culture in China. We see holding Sino-Russian festivals as a contribution to the future. Apart from the Russian circus art, we want the Chinese people to learn Russian philosophy. When they not only show stunts, but show history as well. We should continue to learn from each other," said Zhu Chuansheng, Member of the Board, General Director for Project Development, Wuqiao Acrobats Association; Director, Golden Circus of Beijing.

"Studying the creative industries in the country since 2019, we have come to understand the actions required at the current stage. The Far East, as a place where we discuss the development of creative industries, should act as a production centre for the whole country to head this way and create infrastructure around it so that our product starts to be seen in the APR region," said Igor Namakonov, General Director of the Federation of Creative Industries.

"The development of creative industries requires smaller-scale infrastructural investments, but the effect is achieved very quickly and creates motivation for the development of regional economies in other sectors. We have started making cross-border payments in Chinese yuan for the bank's clients. Those involved in the creative industries should pay attention to the development of this interaction," said Vera Podguzova, Senior Vice President, Director of External Relations Directorate, Promsvyazbank.

The programme partner is VKontakte, the event's main social network and streaming service.

The 8th Eastern Economic Forum takes place on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok on 1 –13 September.
